Hydrumedical S.A. is a Portuguese medical device company founded in 2016 and headquartered at AvePark – Science and Technology Park of Guimarães. Originating as a spin-off from the I3Bs – Research Institute for Biomaterials, Biodegradables and Biomimetics, Hydrumedical has steadily consolidated its position in the medical technology sector through the development and production of innovative solutions that address emerging healthcare needs.
The company stands out for its ability to design and validate high-technology medical devices, supported by a multidisciplinary team of engineers, scientists, and clinicians working together to transform ideas into tangible products. Among its most notable developments is the HydrUStent™, regarded as one of the world’s first biodegradable ureteral stents, designed to reduce post-surgical complications and lower costs associated with the treatment of urinary obstructions.
Hydrumedical operates across several medical fields, including urology, ostomy care, infection control, and sports medicine, thereby expanding its solutions portfolio beyond traditional medical devices. Its strategic focus combines research, prototype development, feasibility studies, testing, and regulatory support, ensuring compliance with international quality and safety standards, namely ISO 13485:2016.
