IPCA and partner companies produce 10,000 protective visors for hospitals in Minho

The Artificial Intelligence Research Center (2Ai) at EST / IPCA has developed a methodology for the rapid production of individual protection visors for healthcare professionals.

The Artificial Intelligence Research Center (2Ai) of the Escola Superior de Tecnologia (EST) of the Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave (IPCA), with the support of the Escola Superior de Design (ESD) and Escola Técnica Superior Profissional (ETeSP), and in partnership with the companies Lucemplast, Polipop, Riopele and Adilevel, they developed a methodology for the rapid production of individual protection visors for healthcare professionals.

The prototype developed has already been validated by a clinical team at Hospital de Barcelos. The manufacturing approach used allows to produce, in record time, 10,000 visors that will start to be delivered in the next few days in several hospitals in Minho.

Given the current needs of the National Health Service, these devices are essential for the protection of health professionals and assistants, whose needs have increased exponentially with the current Coronavirus pandemic.
