The city of Guimarães will host the Deaf Champions League (DCL) 2026, one of the largest European sports events dedicated to the deaf community. The event will be organized by the Guimarães and Vale do Ave Deaf Sports Association (ASGVA), a social solidarity organization that is currently seeking sponsors and business partners for the event.
The DCL, which is equivalent to the UEFA Champions League but for deaf athletes, will bring together futsal teams from various European countries, offering a high-level competition and promoting equality in sports. The tournament, scheduled for February next year, represents a unique opportunity to showcase the talent and resilience of the deaf community on the international sports stage.
In addition to organizing the event, ASGVA has a futsal team that competes in the National Championship and the Portuguese Cup, and has already secured its participation in the Deaf Champions League 2026 as Portugal’s representative.
ASGVA seeks companies to ensure the success of the event and promote equality in sports
ASGVA has the support of the Sports Division of the Guimarães City Hall and the Directorate of Deaf Culture and Sports (DCDS), but it is seeking additional partners and sponsors to ensure the efficient organization of the event. The association is reaching out to businesses that could contribute to the event, whether through financial support, the provision of goods and services, or event promotion.
The association calls for the involvement of the community and the business sector, emphasizing the importance of support in placing Guimarães at the center of European inclusive sports. Interested companies and organizations that would like to sponsor the event can contact the association directly via email at asgva.futsal@gmail.com | asurdosgva@gmail.com or by phone at +351 962 278 653.
