Guimarães participated in the Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona, which took place from the 5th to the 8th of November. This event, considered one of the most important in the smart cities sector, brought together experts, policy makers and representatives of various organizations with the aim of discussing and presenting innovative solutions for smart urbanization management.
Guimarães’ presence was part of a Portuguese delegation that included 19 entities and 43 municipalities, standing out with his own stand in the “Smart Portugal” pavilion. This space, with a total area of 180 square meters, served as a platform to showcase projects and initiatives that aim to transform cities into smarter and more sustainable environments. The inauguration of the pavilion was attended by the Consul-General of Portugal in Barcelona, Ana Coelho, and the Secretary of State for Modernization and Digitalization, Alberto Rodrigues da Silva.
During the event, Guimarães had the opportunity to share his experiences and innovations in several thematic sessions. One of the highlights was participation in the Space4Cities project, which focused on the application of space technologies to solve urban challenges. The city was part of discussions about how emerging technologies can be used to improve the quality of life in urban areas.
Furthermore, Guimarães was featured on SIC’s “Futuro Hoje” program, where Lourenço Medeiros highlighted the city’s efforts towards urban innovation. This media visibility complemented participation in the event, reinforcing Guimarães’ commitment to being a reference in the implementation of intelligent solutions and systems.
The event also provided valuable opportunities for networking among participants, allowing the exchange of ideas and experiences between municipalities and companies.
