The 3B’s Research Group, led by Prof. Rui L. Reis, the only institute of its kind to be located in Guimarães, Portugal, has as its mission the development of new materials for use in a range of biomedical and environmental applications. Research conducted at 3B’s group at the interface of life sciences, biotechnology and engineering materials and fabrics, has as main objective the development of new biodegradable and / or biomimetic materials as well as solutions which may give rise to clinical applications, particularly regeneration and replacement in human tissues (bone, cartilage, skin).
